One, what is the deal with this new $5 bill:
I got one back yesterday as change after buying a sandwich at Blimpie's. That big purple 5 in the bottom right made me think I really got ripped off. It wasn't until I checked it out online that I was sure this wasn't a joke. DJM described the back of the new bill as such: "It looks like someone punched the 5 in the bottom right really hard, and it got all swollen and purple."
The Greek Professor's response? "I haven't received any new fivers but I have seen the weirdness in photos; the next stage in bill development will probably include hologram action shots, '80s-trading card style."
Sh*t is tacky looking. Although I should be considerate, since one of the reasons for the Barney-ized 5 is that it is suppose to help the visually impaired distinguish units of currency. Yep, you got it - one more thing to blame the baby boomers for....

USA Today had a feature on the upcoming G.I. Joe movie last Friday. We got the tip off from the Greek Professor. I just figured it would a good time to point out that the guy who is playing Snake Eyes (pictured below) is Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Other actors involved include Sienna Miller as The Baroness, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (from 3rd Rock From The Sun) playing Cobra Commander, and Marlon Wayans as Ripcord.

Agree with ya, Diallo. I don't have high expectations, yet I will still almost certainly pony up my $10+ to see this when it comes out. It's not that hard to trick us 20ish, 30ish year old guys into throwing away our money, is it?...
Depends on the trailer. Take the trailer for the new Hulk movie. I was into it until they showed what the Hulk looks like. My wallet went right back into my pocket. If the trailer delivers then I will be there. My only question is, will we get a PSA at the end of this joint. True, it would be corny as hell but to guys of a certain age "Knowing is half the battle" is scripture.
I got one of those new 5's on Saturday at Jack in the Box. I thought I had got ripped off, too. I brought it to the attention of the manager, and she told me it was the new 5. Even ran it through a machine that verified if the bill was real or not.
Hollywood just has a way of taking the good parts that you remember out of what made things good as a kid. I hope that this new GI Joe movie will stay as true as possible to the old cartoons. I doubt it though. Hollywood has a bad habit of trying to make every movie into a love story. It's a shoot em up where folks don't die! I wonder if Sgt. Slaughter is going to make an appearance?
SML:
the Dr. Smoov clip is cool, I've never seen that one before. he does a lot of Transformers stuff as well, search for "optimus prime's rude awakening" on youtube. good stuff.
I would like to thank you for the endeavors you have made in publishing this article. I am trusting the same best work from you in the future as well. In fact your fanciful writing abilities has inspired me to start my own blog now. Genuinely the blogging is spreading its wings rapidly. Your write up is a fine example of it.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander? Whaaat? I have bumps on my ass older than him. I hadn’t heard that he was cast. It’s bad enough that Channing Tatum is playing Duke. My interest is slowly waning. Sommers better return to his roots a la the first Mummy. If he still has Van Helsing in his system, this movie is going to be one gigantic bag of suck.
