Real short linkdump post today - we've been working on what we hope will be interesting posts for next week, so I haven't been doing a good job of providing content this week. Also, we have a few big announcements coming down the line.
But on to some entertaining posts for the week:
We really liked this post about the Top 10 Most Superstitious Athletes, from Mental Floss. I can't believe Wade Boggs didn't make the list (though he does get a fleeting mention in the Jason Terry blurb). Some interesting stuff on that list, though.
*************
Skeets of Yahoo! found this YouTube (of course - Skeets is the king of the You Tube find) of Al Horford doing a pitch for Hawks, inviting fans to come to the Arena early to watch the 51.1 second makeup of their game against the Heat earlier this season.
I also like the commercial because it reminded me that Al Horford is Dominican (from Puerto Plata, a place I've visited a few times). It's underplayed by the NBA, but Horford, Gilbert Arenas (of Cuban heritage) and Carmelo Anthony (his father was Puerto Rican) are some of the rising Latino stars in the NBA.
************
And finally, we want to give some love to this "Ballers Against Genocide" post by Signal 2 Noise, since it definitely falls into the category of "Athletes doing good" that we love to showcase here at SML.

I personally love Walt Frazier. Actually, most Knicks fans do. He's a bit of a homer, but unlike most homers he can (and will) castigate players, especially for "matadoric defense" (Ole!). He's also insightful (good info on what players should and should not be doing), and has some great stories. He's one of the better local announcers in the NBA...

I know Detroit may actually lose tonight to the Knicks but god... I don't see how you can not only watch the Knicks, but listen to Walt Frazier.. I don't know which is worse
