I'm mentioned before this weird dislike of Grant Hill I have, right?  For some strange reason (nostalgia, perhaps), the first adjective I can think off to describe him is always "burger".  As in, "Yo, he's a f*cking burger!"

Grant Hill in his Duke days, pictured here with some friends. The word "burger" is urban sh*t talk; I'm not sure how to describe it exactly, but basically it was another way of saying "a scrub".  On the basketball court: "Yo, son, how you gonna let that guy score on ya?  He's a burger!".

At some point, while playing NBA Live 9* with my friends, the running joke became how much I hated Grant Hill in those games.  He would always turn the ball over, or miss an easy shot, at a crucial point in the game.  He was the anti-Jordan, or anti-Mullin (depending on the year).

Whatever, it's a video game...  well, we took those games seriously, and every time that Hill would mess up one of my games, I would go into one of my "Damn, Grant Hill is a f*cking burger" rants.  I don't think I've ever described or called anyone else a burger, and it isn't even that common a phrase.

One of the other things that I remember about Grant Hill from that period (the late 90's, or college) was how we used to break on his commercials and stuff.  Especially the Sprite ones, which were great.

I remember writing on this site last year about one of those commercials, the one in which his agent pitches the idea for him to do a music album, and Grant Hill visualizes it in his mind.  The image?  Grant Hill pictures himself playing a synthezier, singing to that generic 90's dance riff, with a couple of girl backup singers: "I'm a cowboy. (Girls: "He's a cowboy")."

So every time Grant Hill would do something good in one of those games, we would break out the "he's a cowboy" jokes.

Anyway, I couldn't find the commercial on You Tube, or on the web.  Until now.  Three weeks ago, apparently, someone put up a video of 5 Grant Hill Sprite commercials... check it out:

The commercial that I specifically talked about starts at the 1:37 in mark.  It's even better than I remembered.
Agent: "Made for TV dramas..."
Grant Hill (acting):  "You want me to be just like Tommy, dad... (slamming hands on table)... but I can only be Jake."  (points to own face).

Grant Hill.  He'll always be a burger to me, but I did love those Sprite commercials.  Good stuff.

Bonus:  Here's another one of my favorite Sprite commercials from that era... "I've played Hamlet at Cambridge!":
