Via Marc Berman's blog on the Post:  A duo of Knick-loving Italians (Genovese from Yonkers and Gustapo from Queens) called First Cousins have done a rap song called "Fire Isiah".  Lyrics:

CHORUS -

WE SCREAMIN’ “FIRE ISIAH’’ HE TURNED THE FRANCHISE TO HELL

WE NEED DAVID STERN TO SOMEHOW MAKE THE DOLANS SELL

WE NEED ALL OUR DRAFT PICKS AND A PTP

WE GOTTA GET A CHIP BACK TO MSG....

VERSE -

I BEEN REPPIN’ THE KNICKS, LI’L KID AROUND THE MID EIGHTIES,

BERNARD KING, CARTWRIGHT, SHORTS TIGHT CRAZY,

PATRICK CAME, MARK JACKSON CAME, PAT RILEY, VAN GUNDY SHOWED US THE D GAME,

STARKS GRABBED HIS JERSEY ALWAYS REPPED NY,

OAKMAN AND MASE ALWAYS PLAYED WITH PRIDE,

TRUE KNICKS CAMBY AND KURT THOMAS SPLIT,

NOW HERE COMES ISIAH NOW WE TURNED TO SPIT,

GOT THE HIGHEST PAYROLL BUT THE WORST CHEMISTRY FIT,

I GOT FIRE ISIAH TATTOOED ON MY WRIST,

AND ON MY SANTA'S WISH LIST WAS YOU KNOW WHAT,

GIVE ME MULLIN OR WEST IN THAT GM SPOT,

BUT I'M STILL WATCHIN A TRUE FAN NEVER HOLDING OUT,

AND IF WE FIRE ISIAH STILL GOTTA GET DOLAN OUT,

BUT EITHER WAY I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DAY,

WE BRING A BANNER TO THE GARDEN THE GREATEST PLACE TO PLAY...

You can find the actual track here on their website.  Um, nice use of a Kanye West-like sped up sample of "You Can Believe".  It's better than, say, "Go NY, Go NY, Go", by Jessie James.

That having been said... my favorite comment is the second one, by "1Pac":

YOU RAN VAN GUNDAY AND EWING OUTA TOWN.
NOW ALL WE HAVE IS 2 WHITE RAPPING CLOWNS!
GUSTAPO AD GENOVESE GO BACK TO YOUR JOB.
RAPPING AIN'T YOU, STAY WITH THE MOB!

Game, set, match.

Despite the spellign errors, that was still quite a funny comment.

the dudes were like a poor man's jojo pellegrino.

the "gustapo" part was a bit confusing; was the dude going for "gestapo," and if so, why the paean to fascism?

i noticed that the guys were 29. mc-ing should have american idol's age ceiling: if you haven't blown by 28, you need to keep it movin' 'cause success in a youth genre ain't happening.

(at least that's how i've rationalized my obsolescence to the rap game.)

I never said it was "good". The best I could do is compliment the production values.

These guys are like a poor man's "Lordz of Brooklyn".

i was actually going to say "poor man's lordz of brooklyn," but i chose not to diminish them for 3 reasons:

a) they've moved from hip hop into frathouse-style bluegrass rock.

b) most (half?) of the l.o.b are irish and jojo pellegrino is italian.

c) the group's founder lives one street block away from me and is a neighborhood legend.

I thought I was making a fool of myself with my Knicks raps, but wow. These guys are making fools out of themselves. I mean, I suck, but mine is a joke, and it seems like these guys take this seriously.

You all need to stop hating and recognize that these kids are legends in the game. How you gonna compare the real to jojo Pellegrino? You better ask somebody.

I was talking about the last comment that SML posted from the guy rebutting the rap.

Everyone makin comments about how these kids aren't anyone and all that ... nobody realizes how well known they are in the underground rap game. Apparantely all you people listen to is commercial rap which is becoming an insult to true hip-hop. Stop hatin' ...
