...or released.  The Big Mac himself, Knick center Jerome James, is possibly facing season-ending knee surgery, according to the NY Post (found via Posting and Toasting).

James right knee, which has kept him from playing so far this preseason, supposedly has problems with "the hardware in his knee from a 1999 reconstructive surgery to repair a torn ACL".  It's "being rejected by his body, causing massive swelling and fluid to build up".

I hate rooting for athletes to get injured.  It goes against the grain of my being to root for another human to suffer, you know, unless they deserve it or something.  But I am rooting for James to have some season-ending surgery, and soon.

Let's not kid ourselves:  Jerome James is not going to help the Knicks this year.  Or next year, either.  He might try again in three seasons, when his contract is up.  Until then, he's just dead weight on the Knicks bench.

And he's not getting traded, no matter how much Isiah tries.  No matter how much he show-cases him at the trading deadline.  He's not getting traded.  I'm absolutely convinced that he's the worst, most untradeable, contract in the league.  Furthermore, he is taking up a valuable roster spot.

It's been well-documented that the Knicks have 17 players now competing for 15 roster spots.  Now I admit that, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who the Knicks' 15th player is.  We're talking about a team that may not even make the playoffs, so who really cares who the 15th player on the team is.

But given a choice between Allan Houston, Jerome James, Jared Jordan, and Demetris Nichols for the last two spots... I can do without Jerome James.  The Knicks have enough big men - Zach Randolph, Eddy Curry and Randolph Morris can all play center.  David Lee and Malik Rose are undersized, but both can play power forward in a pinch.  If the Knicks lose both Randolph and Curry to injuries... well, one, they are screwed anyway.  Two, I doubt Jerome James will step in and do anything other than what he does now - foul a lot.  He's the Knicks' Big Pun - "I'm not a player, I just hack a lot".

If he gets surgery Isiah has to seriously think about releasing him/buying him out.  Knowing he won't be able to play this season at all, and probably will be out of shape next season (James is hardly what you would call a gym rat)... there's no reason to keep him on the roster.

Demetris Nichols, Jared Jordan and even Allan Houston may all add up to nothing - they may all have nothing to show for the rest of their NBA careers, however brief they are - but at this point, I think all three have more to show, more to prove, and more desire, than Jerome James.  Cut his knee, then cut him loose, please.

The NY Times is reporting that Joe Torre has turned down a one-year deal from the Yankees.  More to come, I'm sure.

I don't appreciate this comment SML. I one of those karma guys and these statement, even if they have a shred of intellectual merit fuck up my whole vibe! Consider yourself warned!

Okay, now that that is out of the way... about JJ. If he goes under the knife, yes he has got to be cut. If not Jordan gets the ax...
