So she was watching The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday (she was working from home, meaning she now has an even more laid back job than I do), and Ellen had a feature about Chris Bryant, a 23-year old from Akron. Chris has made a name for himself jumping over cars in Akron:
That little feature set a record for most repetitive use of "Jump" by Van Halen and Kris Kross, mixed in with a bit of "Jump Around" by the House of Pain. The segment yesterday by Ellen was a followup to this segment back in September.
In this September segment, Chris Bryant jumps over 5 cars in a row. According to the GF, he also talked about how he didn't know his dad, and hoped that his father would see him on Ellen and contact him.
Well, here is the update from yesterday. He seems like a genuinely nice kid, doesn't he? In this segment, Nike invited him to a store opening, plus a $5,000 shopping spree. Nike is also donating $10,000 to a charity of his choice, and they will put Chris Bryant in a commercial for their online store. Not a bad turn of events, and some nice marketing by Nike.
Not in the clip, but my GF informed me that, unfortunately, when asked about his dad by Ellen, Chris said that he has not heard from him yet.
Sorry, embedding is disabled on that one. But it's "Carhoppers". The Indian Playa called me up on Wednesday to ask me if I remembered this song, and "Who was the artist?". Keep in mind I talk to the Indian Playa once every six months on average, and rarely in NYC. I was walking down the street, and my response was "Wow... it was one of those guys that had only one hit, and it was the followup to that hit. I want to say Sir Mix-A-Lot, but that's not right... Put It On The Glass was his followup. Hmm. I'm going to go with Positive K."
Sh*t, can't believe I was right. The stuff my brain cells are wasted on....
