Some stuff from around the web:

-Hoops Addict has a cool interview up with Jon Loomer.  Jon is in charge of NBA.com's fantasy website.  The interview spans from just talking about being rudderless when leaving school, to the struggles of being an internet-based sports writer (something most bloggers should relate to) and, of course, fantasy basketball.  I'm a little partial to the interview because I recently found out one of my coworkers has a son who writes fantasy blurbs for NBA.com (and ergo, works for Jon Loomer).

When she mentioned to me he wrote about basketball on the internet, I thought she was telling me he was a blogger, and knew that I was one.  I got a little frightened, because I don't tell my coworkers about my blogging (for obvious reasons, like it might effect my employment)... turns out she was telling me because he wrote about fantasy basketball, and was aware that I play in a fantasy basketball league (which she knows because she sits next to The Marathon Man, and because at most times during the b-ball season you can find me chilling in the mailroom talking trash with three or four of the guys from our league).  Close call!

-I forgot how I got to this link, but... The Georgetown Heckler has a nice piece called "Wearing Your Collar Down Is For Poor People".

-We found out about this site through Straight Bangin' (we love Joey - he's like our evil twin brother blogger), and this is pure gold right here - from The Real, it's "Deconstructing Biggie: UPS Is Hiring".  The Asian dude kills me when he busts out the Puff dance - my Greek ex-GF used to do that whenever the song used to come on, and it just slayed me every time.  Note: it's a guaranteed way to get a laugh from SML.

Not that I need to say it, but the Flava In Ya Ear (Remix) is one of the greatest posse cuts of all time, and my fondness for it is well documented - I've linked or quoted it several times.  It's up there with another posse cut whose You Tube I've been hiding for a mad militant post... maybe when I finally get around to doing that Ankiel piece....

The craziest thing about Flavor in Your Ear remix is that at the time, Craig Mack was bigger than Biggie!

My roommate used to do the puffy dance all the time. He always looked like such a doofus. But the Asian guy? That's just pure comedy, my friend.

True, though to be fair - Nas was bigger than Biggy, too. Lots of people were pissed off at the time, when at The Source awards (which reminds me: The Source was once very important, too) Biggy beat Nas for "Lyricist of the Year". The point: getting killed is better for your legacy than living and eventually falling off. See Nirvana and Pearl Jam for the white version.

In college, I would be PISSED if I missed an issue of The Source. I never let anyone take a copy out of my room. Yeah, that was a LONG time ago.

Marathon Man: Nah, nice try. It's a bigger posse cut, and perfect for that militant "I'm mad" post. Though, now that you mention it, M.O.P. works for any "I'm mad" mood...

I've said it before, but back when I harbored dreams of being a Golden Gloves boxer (skinny, tall lefty - the boxing guy at the East Harlem gym I used to go to regularly, the same guy who was like one of those 70 year old trainers who had trained a long list of Golden Glove winners over the years - used to love me. He thought if I would only develop some quickness and some skill, I could do well. I never did, never really tried, though I did learn some nifty footwork), I vowed that I if was every in a big boxing match my intro music would be the "Rugged Neva Smoove". Or "Ante Up". Or any of the remixes. Or "How About Some Hardcore". Damn, how can you not get amped listening to anything by M.O.P.?

heres my guess for the song...are we looking at a certain pharoahe monch remix...lol. It could be totally off the mark, but it is kinda along the lines of MOP stuff as much as it is "militant."...

SUCH a great posse cut. I gotta go throw that on. And ad this site to my blogroll--I've been derelict.
