Yeah, I go running everyday (well, almost) in Central Park.  My job is located by the Columbus Circle entrance, and Sheep's Meadow is where I chill and lay on the grass after a run to cool off for a bit before going back to the office.

Yesterday, it was pretty hot and muggy here in NYC, but that didn't deter Steve Nash and a bunch of MLS stars from heading out to Sheep's Meadow to play some pick up soccer.  I could have told them that you are not allowed to play soccer on Sheep's Meadow.  It's restricted only to picnic type activities - Frisbee, football tossing, some whiffleball.  Most soccer players play on the dirt field next to Sheep's Meadow, where they kick up a dust storm that often blows on to the people sleeping in/on the Meadow (don't know which is correct usage - kinda like how some people wait "in" line, some wait "on" line).

Never the less, when I ran by yesterday I noticed a small fuss or commotion over there, but I didn't realize that it was Steve Nash and his crew.  Damn!  Am I kicking myself!  We could have had our first exclusive.  Oh well, it probably wouldn't have mattered, as I don't take my camera with me when I go running anyway.  Still, it's a cute story.

Tip of the hat to Skeets over at The Basketball Jones for making think twice next time we see a group of people standing around in awe at another group of people in the park....

SML,

What happened to the random You-tube videos?

Haven't seen them in a while and I'm missing them.

Ha, good point. Still testing out the new software, but I have a few ready to go. I'm glad someone is enjoying them!

Yeah, the "Careless Whisper" and
"Bat Dance" were classics along with the big kid beating up the scrawny one...

It takes a lot for me to hate someone. I hate few athletes and even fewer teams. But I am starting to hate a fair amount of sports ANALysts and TV commentators and writers. After reading about Mike Lupica attacking Roger Clemen's worth and even mentioning him in the same breath as Kevin Brown, he's now made the list.

I alternate between old skool hip hop songs, and 80's (and other) video clips. Now that I successfully tested out a YouTube video, I think you will be seeing more random videos (hopefully).

On an old site last off-season, one of my co-contributors wrote about how he was just kicking around at Pier 40 and Steve Nash showed up and ended up scoring like 3 or 4 goals on my friend in a large, fairly serious game of pickup soccer. They say he just owned shit, and he said one of them was flopping even though there was no ref.
I guess this is how MVP spends his summers.

Dirk ich MVP now!

Wow, I just figured everything written on your site was totally fabricated ;)

Steve Nash knows he's not really a Euro, right?
