Heard a quick funny story today, via The Marathon Man's buddy from McGill (we still haven't given him a nickname yet, though we'll come up with something soon - he's a wealth of good info), regarding L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling.
We generally try not to be too gossip-like, but we don't care much for Donald Sterling. He's the definition of racist. He may, in fact, not actually be a bigot, but his policies as a property owner are undisputably racist - he had been fined repeatedly for discriminating in his housing. He deserves no breaks from us or anyone else.
McGill Guy has been out in Vegas chilling for the past week. He was hanging the casino in the Wynn, which is a great spot to chill at during the summer league season. All the NBA types tend to hang out there - GMs, players, agents, even owners. If you are a blogger/reporter hanging out in Vegas, checking out the summer league action... get your ass over to the Wynn.
McGill Guy reported that he was playing blackjack when Donald Sterling showed up. Here's how the conversation went down between MM and SML:
SML: Wait... Donald Sterling is chilling at the same blackjack table as MG?
MM: Yep.
SML: Your boy ain't a high roller, right?
MM: Nah, don't think so...
SML: Sh*t, I bet Donald Sterling is that cheap! He's probably playing blackjack at the $5 table...
MM: The only billionaire in the world who bets the casino minumum on blackjack.
SML: What else did MG say?
MM: He said Donald Sterling's girlfriend was there.
SML: Word?
MM: Hangin on his arm at the table. 6 foot blonde.
SML: What she look like?
MM: Get this... she's got a good body, young, 6 foot, blonde...
SML: Right, sounds right for a billionaire...
MM: And he's (MG) is like "There's something wrong with her eyes!"
SML: What do you mean?
MM: He's like "Yeah, she's like totally cross-eyed"
SML: Aaaaah, man. Yo, why doesn't that surprise me?!?
MM: Donald Sterling is so cheap he can't even buy a 10. He has to buy like a 9.
SML: Word. You know he's paying her by the quarter-hour and sh*t.
