Continuing our recent interest in the Premiership (again, strictly because of the Argentine players), our "team" West Ham had a big victory today against 6th place Bolton 3-1.  The game featured a dominating performance by our man Carlos Tevez, who shredded the Bolton backfield on route to scoring two early goals (at the 10 and 21 marks).  He also set up Mark Noble's goal at the 29 minute mark.

The win, combined with Wigan's 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough, moved the Hammers into 17th place, and out of the relegation zone (#18-20 gets dropped, yo).  West Ham now has 38 points, tying them with Sheff United (3-0 losers today); Wigan has 35 points.  With one game left, the Hammers just have to stay ahead of Wigan to avoid relegation.

Wigan and Sheff Utd. square off against each in their season finale; ergo, West Ham will finish, at worst, in a three way tie (presuming Wigan wins).  If West Ham can beat Man Utd in their final game (a possibility, since Man Utd might want to rest players in the otherwise meaningless game), they avoid relegation.  And since we want to see more Carlos Tevez, we'll be pulling for them next Sunday (5/13).

Here are the highlights of today's game, including the splendid Tevez free kick that accounted for the first score of the match:

Of course, winning doesn't necessarily save West Ham.  There is still the looming threat  by "the gang of four", consisting of four clubs (Charlton, Fulham, Sheffield United and Wigan) who have threatened a possible lawsuit against the Premiership for not docking West Ham points for the illegal signing of Carlos Tevez (and Javier Mescherano).  For more details, check out this article from The UK Times.   The best part is representatives of the four clubs met to discuss possible action at a Harrod's store.  Yo, that's like Mark Cuban getting together with some other NBA owners to discuss taking action against David Stern at a Macy's.  Maybe it was because Harrod's had a 70% off sale on (law) suits?

It is also worth mentioning that those four clubs are the four clubs most in danger of being relegated besides West Ham - check out the current standings:

15    Fulham    37    -20    39 pts
16    Sheff Utd    37    -22    38 pts
17    West Ham    37    -25    38 pts
18    Wigan    37    -23    35 pts
19    Charlton    36    -24    33 pts
20    Watford    37    -30    27 pts

Watford has no chance of avoid relegation anyway, so they are not getting involved.  The other four losers are on some sour grapes ish.  Sorry, I should swear in British... so tell them swamp donkeys to sock it before I give them a trunky in the tradesman's entrance and have 'em lick me yarbles!
