Okay, let's get to it - The Raps opens up a huge lead, at one point going up 33-11 on the Nets.  Let's get to the 4th quarter action recap:

  • The Raptors open the fourth quarter with 79-67 lead.  The Nets haven't given up yet, though.  Nachbar hits two free throws to cut it 79-69.  Then Joey Graham got stuffed (unsure which Net got him, but no doubt they signed the ball for Graham), and Jefferson scored to cut it to 79-71.  The Nets are on a 8-0 run going back to the third quarter.
  • Jose Calderon hits a jumper to end the run. 81-71 Raps.
  • With the score 85-74, Nachbar with a big three to get the Nets back within 8.  Can we just call him Keith van Horn, version 2?  White people all look alike to us.
  • Big drive by Richard Jefferson - 85-79.  That's the closest the Nets have been since the begining of the game.
  • Vince Carter goes right at a defenseless Chris Bosh (playing with four fouls and scared to pick up another one).  85-81.  Nets are creeping!
  • Jefferson wiht another big layup, cutting it to 87-85 with 5:25 left.  Canada is scared.
  • Nachbar fouls Peterson - Mo hits two to make it 89-85.
  • Nachbar fouls Petereson (again) - 2 mo for Mo, 91-85.
  • Bigg three forr Kidd.  91-88.
  • Calderon the Spaniard. 93-88.
  • With the score 95-88, Calderon misses a great reverse, and then Bosh misses the wide-open putback dunk!!!  Wow.  Mikki Moore gets fouled, hits one of two (95-89).
  • Bargnini with the offensive foul, 1:00 left.
  • Goaltending on Jefferson drive.  95-91 with 50 seconds left.
  • Kidd with the strip like Whoa.  Carter with the three like Whoa.  95-94, 27.6 seconds left.
  • Bosh hits two big free throws. 97-94.
  • Mikki Moore follows a Carter miss with a putback.  97-96.
  • Bosh gets fouled with under 10 seconds left, hits one of two free throws. 98-96.
  • Carter drives, but there is great defense on him, so he kicks it out to an open Nachbar... who misses the three.

All things considering, we like the last play.  If Carter can't get open (he couldn't, great defense by... Peterson?... not sure), we like the idea of Nachbar shooting a three.  He has been hitting the big threes all season long, it was a good second option.

The series isn't over yet (it should end in NJ for Game 6), but most of our "predictions" have been on target.  It is the only interesting series in the Eastern Conference (with the Central Division on some broom sh*t).  Kidd has been on a triple-double pace, and Carter had two back to back big games in NJ (not 40 pointers, but that's because both were blowouts).  Chris Bosh was a non factor in several games.  And this one was the one that I thought would be the OT classic, but it just missed out.  Had Carter tied the game up, we would have hit that on one, too.

Looking forward to Game 6.

Erroneous! Erroneous on both counts!
Seriously, my love for KVH notwithstanding, he never dunked on some heads the way the Slovenian Slammer has a few times this season.
And the only person playing any D on Vince at the end there was Juan Freaking Dixon. It was a scaredy pass and you and I both know, this was a typical Air Pussy "I don't feel like driving into the lane because I forgot to take the Midol at halftime" maneuver.
And as much as I want to have like 10,000 of Nachbar's babies, he was 0-for-6 on threes in the game. Oh, and that's right, THEY WERE ONLY DOWN BY TWO!!!

Hey Becky,
I've seen Keith Van Horn take it to the rim, and dunk on people. Let's go to the YouTube (because you know white people are gonna have the Van Horn tributes up!):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQndPAXIxoA

Ah, man. I'm digging the high irony level in this "tribute" - note that 1) the video tribute lasts only 1:45 seconds, despite the clip being 3:40 long... the rest is just the song.
2) almost every dunk is on a breakaway, with like two or three exceptions, which I believe were on Steve Nash and Brad Miller! KVH only puts it down on his own, yo!
3) Do you really need to include KVH holding his sprained ankle in pain in a "tribute" video?!?

If the last 2 minutes of that clip were all pictures of KVH shooting threes (instead of blank ness), it would be the ultimate summary.

I'm sorry I could actually find footage of KVH dunking... the rest of the clips were of KVH getting dunked on, or throwing an alley oop to Marbury. Oh, and this classic Nike/Foot Locker commercial:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs0tfinMff4

Anyway, point being Boki may have a few more dunks... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5QUbrk4oSk... but I remember KVH having a few when he was Boki's age, too. Too bad there's no evidence.

Moving on, you are right about VC's pass being pussy. But that's why I would rather have him just give it up to Nachbar. Boki seems confident from three, even when he's having an off-night. I'll rather have the guy who is willing to take the big shot take it than the guy who is scared or could care less.

Go for the win on the road, hotness. Always. Especially when you got a home game to fall back on.

Dude...when the situation is Darrick Martin aka CeeLo running the point, going to overtime IS a win.

Eastern Conference Finals '02; New Jersey Nets vs. Boston Celtics- Becky brings a big sign to The Swamp reading:
"HEY KEITH: TAKE IT TO THE HOLE!!!"
Because he never did.
