Pretty good-looking play by the base stealer, though. That takes some strength and agility, huh? When are the Red Sox going to pay $102 million for him? Coco Crisp sucks, after all.
Actually, this altogether might be the worse steal play I've ever seen. Let's go through it:
1. The pitcher fails to get out of the way.
2. The catcher fires a one-hopper to second that's not even close.
3. But wait - the one-hopper still beats the runner by a mile.
4. The runner's slide is short of the bag by more than a foot.
5. The shortstop fails to apply a tag to the runner.
Amazing stuff.
The pitcher almost took that one in the noggin.
Pet peeve number one from my catching days. Get out of the way you moron! It's bad enough that I have to do all the thinking for you, the least you could do is give me a clear path to throw the guy out.
