Okay, when you are going through this clip, just wait until the part where they show the replay.  Watch the quick one the would-be thief pulls on the shortstop:

Japanese circa '86 Met guy to Japanese Red guy (or "Carp", according to the uniform): "Fooled ya!"

The pitcher almost took that one in the noggin.

Pet peeve number one from my catching days. Get out of the way you moron! It's bad enough that I have to do all the thinking for you, the least you could do is give me a clear path to throw the guy out.

Pretty good-looking play by the base stealer, though. That takes some strength and agility, huh? When are the Red Sox going to pay $102 million for him? Coco Crisp sucks, after all.

Actually, this altogether might be the worse steal play I've ever seen. Let's go through it:

1. The pitcher fails to get out of the way.
2. The catcher fires a one-hopper to second that's not even close.
3. But wait - the one-hopper still beats the runner by a mile.
4. The runner's slide is short of the bag by more than a foot.
5. The shortstop fails to apply a tag to the runner.

Amazing stuff.

I was kinda hoping that the short slide was intentional because the ball was already there. Probably not, though...right?
