Happy May Day, mo-fos!  Here is a review of things that were written during the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs, which just concluded....

Grant Hill has worn that uniform more often than any other in his career.

Detroit 4, Magic 1:

  • Detroit  is looking like a well-oiled machine again.  Chris Webber is paying dividends...
  • The games were surprisingly close.  It seemed like the Magic were right there at the end of every game, and just couldn't pull it off.  Except for the one blowout.
  • Grant Hill is the most underrated free agent of the summer.  Some team is going to sign him at the mid-level exemption and make the jump next season. Maybe the Lakers should get him for the triangle, then use Lamar Odom as tradebait to land a Jermaine O'Neal, Kevin Garnett type.
  • Did every game end 101-96, or is it just me?
  • Dwight Howard had that one big game, but otherwise was held in check.
  • Darko is the most un-FreeDarko player in the league; ironic?
  • Jameer Nelson aspires to be Stephon Marbury some day.  No, that's not a compliment.
  • Trevor Ariza is freaking scary long.
  • JJ Redick sighted!
  • Detroit just know how to handle its business.

Lebron James is all business. 60% of the time.

 Cleveland 4, Washington 2:

  •  How the eff did Washington win a game last night?
  •  When is LeBron going to start caring?
  •  Damn... Antawn Jamison is a one-man army, it's on... he ain't been tooken out...
  • Oh, there's LeBron.  Finally showing up, and at a most crucial point.  The Cavs needed this win.
  • Wow, how did the Wizards win another one?  What the hell is going on?  Do the Cavs even care?
  • Okay, Cavs are back in charge again.  LeBron to the rescue.  Damon Jones for three.
  • Damn, those last two games were ugly.  The Cavs won by a combined billion points.  So much for the feel good story of the Wizards' first four games.
  • The Cavs are for real.  Half the time.

Ahem. This is a metaphor for what Shaq will do to the Bulls.

Heat 4, Bulls 1:

  •  Another first round knockout for the young Bulls.  No worries, they'll make some moves, use the Knicks first rounder, and be back in this again next season.
  • Damn, Shaq looked good.  Is that the best he's looked since LA?
  • Ben Wallace got victimized by a determined Shaq.  That was a tough assignment.
  • Dwyane Wade seemed comfortable with the body contact.  Though his shoulder injury bothered him a bit, he still played at a high level.
  • Damn, how long before Ben Wallace is going to have to slap a Skiles?
  • Well, that's why they're the defending champs... they get it done.
  • Kapano!

Kidd is mugging for the camera...

Nets 4, Raptors 3:

  • Wow, the only good first round series in the Eastern Conference.
  • Damn, is Jason Kidd going to average a triple-double for the series?  His rebounding is impressive...
  • Damn, is Jason Kidd ever going to stop TJ Ford?  That's like Ford's 15th assist of the night...
  • Has anyone seen Richard Jefferson?  Anyone?
  • Chris Bosh is back after being a non-factor in the last game.
  • Good lord, I figured Vince Carter was going to go for 40 at some point, but I didn't think he would do it in back to back games!
  • That was a great OT classic last night.
  • Well, Richard Jefferson finally made an appearance, coming up with a big 22 point night in a crucial game for the Nets.
  • And the Nets will have to go to Toronto to win this series.  How will Vince Carter handle the pressure of a Game 7 in Toronto?
  • Well, turns out it was Jason Kidd who came up big, finally stopping TJ Ford while single-handedly willing the Nets to a Game 7 victory.  You can tell by his performance in this series that he feels the urgency....
