Why haven't you done a Western Conference preview (or review)?
Because we aren't too sure about how that is going to go down. Here are our thoughts on the west:
- The Mavs aren't coming out of the West. We think Golden State can beat the Mavs, but won't. Still , the Warriors will win a couple of the early games, and it comes down to game 5. You know, eff it - Warriors in six.
- The Rockets have the easiest first round matchup - the Jazz are good, but since their hot start in November, they have been around .500 since. The Rockets are our dark horse team in the West. Rockets in five.
- The Spurs are going to have a had full in the Nuggets in the first round, but they'll manage. The Spurs in six.
- The Suns and Lakers will be fun. Suns in seven again.
What's coming down the line, pass the first round?
Well, we prefer watching a few games to get a feel for the stories that will develop, but we see the Nets winning a great second round matchup against the Cavs. Again, VC will have one or two big games in each series, but this is about Jason Kidd. This is his last chance (with VC on his way out) to make a serious deep run in the playoffs, and he knows it. This is a former almost-MVP, and he can turn around and carry a team by himself. He will. The Pistons-Heat second round series is too tough for us to call now. We have to see how Wade and Shaq look, but we think they can pull it off. Wade-Carter (along with Kidd and Shaq) in the Eastern Conference. We put Jason Capano as our "free agent about to add a few millions to his new contract by hitting a few big shots in the playoffs". In the West, if the Rockets can stay healthy, they will be tough to beat. They will beat the winner of the Mavs/Warriors matchup, and make it to the Western Finals against the Spurs. More thoughts will appear during the next two months....Leave a comment
