According to this NY Post article, Walt "Clyde" Frazier has asked Isiah Thomas if he can work this offseason with Marty Collins (sidenote: I thought his name was Mardy, but the article refers to him as "Marty".  This seems to be a source of confusion in general with coverage of the Knicks... the rosters all say "Mardy", but I've seen beat writers use "Marty" before....)

The surprise shining that Clyde has taken in Mardy apparently stems from the similarities in size (both are 6'6 point guards) and game.  Mardy is a defensive, good rebounding, decent passing point who can drive to the basket okay (calmly, too, not wild) with no jumper.  Clyde, too, took some time to develop his perimeter game.

"I'm going to ask Isiah because there's a few things I can show him," Frazier told The Post on Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C. "Once you get in the paint, control your body. Things very simple that he's not thinking about."

Frazier has never expressed an interest in coaching before.

"Collins said he remembers two years ago after a Temple-Duke game Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski told the media Collins reminded him of Frazier."

"He's a legend," Collins said of Frazier. "I'd definitely be interested in working with him."

Clyde is styling and profiling. Wow.  I think it would be great if Frazier worked with Collins - there is no harm in that, and Clyde can certainly teach a few things.  Not only is Clyde a great player (a NBA Hall of Famer), but he can also improve Mardy's vocabulary.  Can't wait to see the post-game interviews after spending the summer hanging with Clyde:

Mardy Collins (wearing a 70's pimp outfit): "Yes, we took advantage of their matadoric defense.  The neophyte made the egregious blunder of not responding to my shaking and baking.  I was driving and mesmerizing, swooping and hooping, putting the defendor into a stupor.  It was riveting.  All credit due to the diligent working of the uncanny Clyde."

Clyde could teach MC Lyte quuuuuuite a bit.

Maybe he'll give him some grooming tips as well.

Pimp outfit or not, I'd like to see Clyde hook up a doggie collar that shocks Collins with 10,000 volts every times he tries to shoot a jumper.
