7th or 8th pick... in other words, it'll be a long time before your guys are playing in a meaningful game with playoff implications like the Knicks last night, huh? Let's say at least two years, barring a victory in the lottery....
The difference between Crawford most of the time and Marbury's three yesterday: I was quite okay with Marbury shooting a three, as he hit eight of them.
And shooting with 5 seconds left was a good call - instead of rushing the shot with time running out, or with two hands in your face, he shot a wide open shot. From 25 feet, "only Gilbert shoots from here land", but still. It allowed the Knicks to have enough time to get the ball back and set up a shot after Lewis' three went in. Which lead to the foul with one second left.
The Sixers are only 5 games behind the Knicks at this point. Since Andre Miller and Joe Smith came to the Sixers their record is 17-19, in that same period of time, the Knicks record is 17-17.
I'd say w/ or w/out a lottery pick, the Sixers have just as much of a chance at making the playoffs next year as the Knicks do. In fact, I'd say the odds are better for the Sixers. No matter where the picks fall, the Sixers still have 3 first round picks in the draft, two of which will come before the Knicks' pick (They're going to wind up in the 20's, the Bulls swap places with the Knicks). The Knicks don't have a second-round pick. The Sixers will also have a little bit of cap space to work with.
And Marbury should've driven to the basket with 5 seconds left, that was a very, very bad shot. Especially considering the refs had been giving the Knicks charity calls all night long, including the one that led to Marbury spitting the bit.

Chokesbury also took a wild three with 5 seconds left on the shot clock when the Knicks held a 1-point lead with 16 seconds left in the game. He looked oddly Crawford-esque with the ball in his hand as the clock wound down.
And the Sixers are probably going to get more like the 7th or 8th pick in the draft.
