Beat The Skeets is a daily feature in which SML tries to surpass the record set by the best basketball handicappers in the world, J.E. Skeets and Tas Melas of www.thebasketballjones.net.
TBJ Current Record: They won yesterday with the Hawks upsetting the Nash-less Suns. TBJ's record is now 59-41 (59.0%).
SML Current Record: We split again, winning with the Nuggets, but just losing with the Lakers (by a half point, ugh!). These close calls are killing us. Current record: 15-23 (39.5%).
Today's picks: We will now start the long journey back to .500; the first two steps will be taking the Knicks [+7] at the Jazz, and the Nuggets (minus AI) [+2.5] at the Bucks (still minus Redd). Here's why: The Knicks have only lost by more than 7 points twice since Jan. 1 - both times to the juggernaut that is the Bobcats. Okay, that's odd, but the Knicks generally keep it close (thanks in part to their deep bench), and if they can stop the pick and roll (Millsap ain't Boozer), they can keep it close. The Nuggets are playing for the second night in a row, but... we at SML don't believe in the Bucks. Take the points....
