Beat The Skeets is a daily feature in which SML tries to surpass the record set by the best basketball handicappers in the world, J.E. Skeets and Tas Melas of www.thebasketballjones.net.
TBJ Current Record: Their losing streak reached seven yesterday, as Golden State got crushed by the King-less Cavs. No Royalty, No Mercy! I think TBJ needs to return their recent purchase from Vendredi’s Antiques back to the store. Their record is now 53-37 (58.9%).
SML Current Record: We won yesterday, with the Mavs (our go-to team when we need a win). Current record: 4-6 (40.0%)
Today's picks: SML is going all out tonight... first up, the Wizards [+4.5] @ Toronto. Yes, I realize the Raptors are a 1st place team, but is Gilbert hurt or something? Why would the Wiz ever be getting points against the Raps? Give me Gil and 4.5 points, please. I was sorely tempted to place some loot on the Knicks [+3] @ Charlotte, but the Knicks are too unpredictable. We'll cover that soon... same with the Nets, who are only one point underdogs to the Pistons (I'm tempted to take the Pistons, but Vince Carter might be on one of his streaks, so avoid betting against the Nets until we can properly establish VC's current mood). So our second game is the Lakers [-7] at Boston... Kobe is gonna wanna whup some ass tonight. Watch out for the backhand on his jumper, beyatch!
We got more - SML is gonna ride the Mavs and Grizzlies until our pecker falls off. Seriously, we made enough moneyt this season betting on the Mavs and against the Grizzlies that we have to take Dallas [-7.5] @ Memphis... even if we lose, we're okay with that. We owe it to both teams to place this bet.
And just to go for broke, we got three more games* for you tonight: We like Minnesota [-5] at home against the road-averse Kings; we like Denver [-1.5] at the Durant-bound Blazers; and we like the Rockets [-10.5] at home versus the tired Sonics.
*Yes, that's seven bets in one night. Pray for us, for we may be too broke to keep this feature going if we do bad tonight.
